The mud season is upon us and proof of that can be seen at Auburn’s municipal dump on Gracelawn Road. The recent rain and snow has turned the site into one giant mud puddle. Many vehicles, mostly cars — have become mired in the messy stuff in the past few days. Roland Saucier, superintendent of the Highway Department told the Journal the condition is an annual one. To counteract the hazardous conditions, Saucier has authorized the dumping to be done nearer the gate on Gracelawn Road. Thus motorists will only have to travel a short distance in the dump area before unloading. The superintendent said there are many loads of gravel that have been hauled into the dump area in an effort to alleviate the muddy conditions. Meanwhile, several AHD crews today were continuing at the gigantic task of repairing potholes in virtually every area of the city.
