The Maine Education Association Benefits Trust program is providing free vision screenings, eye exams and eyewear to more than 5,000 students in Lewiston. “Clear frames are popular this year with kids,” says Stephanie DuBois, director of public relations at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Every student tested who needs eyeglasses can choose his or her frames. A mobile lab set up outside the school creates the prescription glasses. A majority of students is able to get new eyeglasses and prescriptions by the end of the day.
