The Lewiston and Auburn public libraries plan to host many programs and challenges for all ages inspired by “Front Desk” by Kelly Yang, for The Lewiston/Auburn Read.
Print copies of the book are available for checkout at both libraries, as an ebook or audiobook on the statewide CloudLibrary app for those with library cards, and at public elementary school libraries, according to a news release from the Auburn library.
Participants are encouraged to post selfies reading the book on social media accounts with #TheLewistonRead and/or #TheAuburnRead between Monday, April 25 and Wednesday, May 25.
Both libraries will host a virtual Front Desk Trivia Night using Kahoot! at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. For the zoom link and passcode, email [email protected].
People can watch an interview with Yang by Lewiston Children’s Librarian Sara Turner on the Lewiston Public Library’s YouTube page starting April 25.
At the Lewiston Public Library, a Jasmine Tea Party and Book Discussion will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10. All ages are welcome to come and talk about favorite moments in “Front Desk” while enjoying decaf Jasmine tea.
On Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m., all participants are invited to The Art of Letter Writing. People can write a letter someone or an organization, such as a family member, a friend, or for a cause. Everyone will receive one free postage to mail their letter.
At the Auburn Public Library, a Tea Party and Book Discussion is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.
