Retired Auburn Fire Chief Vincent R. Giberti has been hired by the Maine Insurance Division as a fire investigator. He is currently attending the Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Academy in Augusta.

25 Years Ago: 1997

Many boaters were seen on Lake Auburn Thursday as that body of water lost its ice cover on that day. A brisk northerly wind began blowing the thin remains towards the south shore Thursday morning. and by late afternoon all that remained of the winter coat were particles washed into the cove areas. So, the date of April 24, 1997, has been etched into the Sun Journal ‘s unofficial file for ice-out dates at Lake Auburn. Last year’s date was April 9.
