Romeo Labbe

AUBURN – Romeo Labbe, 86, of Schooner Estates, Auburn, died Friday, April 29, at Clover Health Care.

Romeo was born in Lewiston, Oct. 14, 1935, the son of Theophile and Sara (Richard) Labbe. He was educated at St. Peter’s school and was a 1954 graduate of Saint Dominic High School. He furthered his education at Bentley School of Accounting and Finance (now Bentley College) in 1956. Romeo continued his education evenings at American International College in Springfield, Mass. for ten years where he earned a BBA degree and a MBA degree.

He married the former Theresa Pelletier, the love of his life, on Oct. 13, 1956 at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Lewiston. They immediately settled in Springfield, Mass.

Romeo started his employment at the Hamilton Standard Division of United Aircraft Corporation (now United Technologies) in Windsor Locks, Conn. They purchased their first home in Enfield, Conn. in 1960. In 1972, Romeo became Corporate Controller at Buell Industries in Waterbury, Conn. and moved his family to nearby Cheshire. He later took on the additional titles of Treasurer and Assistant Corporate Secretary until the company was sold. He later held a similar position at the Ball & Socket Co. of Cheshire, Conn. until that company was also sold.

During his career, he was a director in the Waterbury, Conn. chapter of the National Association of Accountants and the President of the Hartford, Conn. chapter of the Financial Executives Institute.

Romeo and wife Theresa moved back to the Lewiston-Auburn area in 2008 at Schooner Estates. He served as President of the Schooner Tenants Council for several years.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Nancy and his son Mark, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa; parents; his brother Robert, and his sister Jeanne.

Visitation will be held at Fortin/Lewiston on Thursday, May 5 from 11-1, followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Committal prayers will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
