I was truly impressed at the section in the May 6 Sun Journal, pages C2-C3, showing the outpouring of support for us nurses.

It is not under any circumstances an easy job. Besides the highly technical aspect our profession, there is the highly emotional factor as well.

Unlike medical doctors, nurses have a closer bond with our patients and their families. Even with all my years of military and law enforcement training, I pride myself in maintaining a cool, frosty demeanor, but that was no match for my first week in pediatric oncology. I drove home each night humbled at the bravery of my small patients.
