Troy Lee Moore

HARRISON – Troy Lee Moore, 81, of Harrison, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his wife Lorraine and daughter Donna by his side. Troy was born in Gatesville, Texas, on March 16, 1941, the son of Nathanial and Mary Moore. He attended Gatesville High School and worked for many years at his family’s gas station in Mound, Texas. In 1968, Troy moved to Maine. He worked for John P Cullinen as an oil burner technician, until they were bought out by CN Brown, and later went on to work for himself. In 1989, Troy started working in the maintenance department for SAD 17; and was well loved by his school community. Troy retired after 33 years with the SAD 17 school district. Troy also enjoyed repairing lawnmowers and snowblowers at Troy’s Tinker Shop (a.k.a. his garage). Troy’s hobbies included taking care of his yard, fishing, hosting family get-togethers with bonfires, and setting off his home-made cannon. Troy could light up a room with his distinctive laugh and he was famous for greeting you with a firm grab of the back of your neck and shoulders. He also enjoyed music and playing in his band “Lee Moore & the Country Ridge Riders”. He recorded a record with his two self-written songs titled “This Barroom” and “Sweetheart I Wouldn’t Blame You”. Troy is survived by his wife Lorraine, his children, Jack, Ricky, Michael, and Donna, his brother Marvin, his sister Bessey, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, and his son Nathanial.Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Oxford Hills Funeral Service, 1037 Main Street, Oxford.
