Jews in Lewiston-Auburn celebrated Friday the Feast of Shabaoth or the Pentecost, giving thanks for an abundant harvest in Palestine in Biblical days.

50 Years Ago: 1972

Badges and cookie sales awards were presented to the girls of Scout Troop 270 at their final meeting of the season  held recently at the Park Avenue Methodist Church in Auburn. Plans were discussed for this weekend. The girls will leave after school on Friday for the recreational campsite on Turner Road. They will be accompanied by their leader and assistant leaders. Scouts receiving awards for top cookie sales were Kim Snow, Pam Cote and Karen Lutteral. All of the girls were presented with an attendance award and also received badges for completing requirements on Girl Scout projects.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The city of Auburn will hold an open house at the Auburn Public Works Department at 296 Gracelawn Road from 9 am to 1 pm. Events will include tours of the Woodbury Brackett Municipal Garage and grounds, equipment demonstrations, equipment rides and displays, daily procedures and the function in the overall city infrastructure. There will be refreshments and balloons for the kids. The open house will be held rain or shine.
