Helen (Sylvain) Morin

AUBURN – Helen (Sylvain) Morin passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2022 with her family by her side. Helen was born April 22, 1929, to Gerard M. Morin and Jeanne Bernard Morin.

She attended St. Louis School, Auburn, and graduated from Edward Little High School with the class of 1947. The oldest of five children, she was raised in a home filled with love and music. She had a beautiful singing voice, and played the piano from a young age.

On June 25, 1949, she married Charles R. Morin. Together they raised seven children. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, where she taught religious education and was a member of the sodality.

Helen’s French heritage was very important to her. She was a past vice president of La Survivance Francaise. She also performed with Les Troubadours, singing at local events and nursing homes.

She has left her musical spirit to her surviving children, Joline (Gerry) Silva, Anne (Peter) Lajoie, Paul (Maureen) Morin, Monique (Michael) Mercier, and Thomas Morin. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Janet Morin and Joanne Caron; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Besides her parents and husband Charles, she was predeceased by two sons, Marc M. and Charles C. Morin; brother Gerard Morin and sisters Irene Mercier and Cecile Wright; as well as her second husband, Albert Sylvain.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no services.
