LIVERMORE FALLS — At the June 26 First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls service the sun rose steamy and hot on Sunday morn, but inside the First Baptist Church, it was cool and dry. Cheery greetings and laughter could be heard as Rev. Thayer welcomed people to the service.

Kay King-Watson welcomed the congregation and read the announcements. Rev. Thayer read the Call To Worship, Psalm 135: 1 – 5. We sang two Praise Songs: “Great Is The Lord” and “Awesome God”. After prayers and praises for loved ones and others, Margaret and Maggie played “Let’s Just Praise the Lord” for the Offertory. After the Offertory Prayer, Kay sang a heartfelt solo: He Touched Me. The hymns we sang for the service were: “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”, “The Gift of Love”, and “He Has Made Me Glad”.

For the past few Sundays, Rev. Thayer has been speaking about the Sermon On the Mount and the Ten Commandments, found in the Book of Matthew 5: 21 – 26. This week, “Sermon On the Mount – Reconciliation” was the title. Jesus reminds his Disciples of one of the Commandments: “Do not murder”, or you will be subject to judgement. He went on to say that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement. When bringing a gift to God’s altar….if you remember that someone has something against you, you must leave the gift in front of the altar and reconcile your differences with that person. Then you can return to the altar and offer your gift.

Rev. Thayer has a podcast available to anyone. Go to http:/www.ubctopsham.org. Check on Podcast and choose the one you want. Most recent is”The Gospel of John”.
