WINDHAM — A blockage in the sewage system at a Maine Correctional Center on Thursday affected a “small group” of inmates, a state official said.

Anna Black, spokeswoman at Maine Department of Corrections, said there was a “short-term impact” to the inmates at the Mallison Falls Road prison.

“Staff quickly began the cleanup process,” Black wrote in an email to the Sun Journal. “Impact to residents was minimal, though some were kept in their cells during the cleanup.”

The Sun Journal received a message from a woman Thursday who said her boyfriend was an inmate at the facility and that she had a “very serious concern” about the incident.
