Lake Auburn is a lake and reservoir in Auburn. Auburn Water & Sewerage District photo

A representative from the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission plans to give a presentation about from where water comes.

The talk is scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Community Room at Auburn Public Library at 49 Spring St.

This presentation will follow a drop of water through the Lake Auburn Watershed and into the community. This all-age event will cover the different pollutants a drop of water might find, different environments it might cross, and the treatment process so it can become drinkable, according to a news release from the library.

There will be some demonstrations, including showing erosion runoff on different surfaces.

This program will be presented as part of the library’s Adult Summer Reading Program, “Oceans of Possibilities,” wherein adults spend time exploring Maine’s waterways. Although an adult program, children 8 and older are welcome to attend with an adult.

If time permits, there may be a small, hands-on activity which is geared toward children.

For more information about this or other programs in the series or to register for this presentation, visit the Events page at auburnpubliclibrary.org, or call the Reference Desk at 207-333-6640, ext. 4. When registering, indicate how many will be attending.
