Firefighters from several neighboring towns were helping fight a fire late Thursday evening at a restaurant in downtown Freeport.

A dispatcher for the Freeport Fire Department confirmed that crews were fighting a structure fire at Petrillo’s, a bar and restaurant located at 15 Depot St., but she was unable to provide any additional details.

The fire was reported just after 10 p.m. Photographs of the fire that were posted on Twitter by a Cumberland County fire and rescue news service showed that the fire was mostly contained to the building’s interior.

Petrillo’s is adjacent to the Amtrak Downeaster boarding platform and is across the street from the Nordica Theater and public parking garage.
