Dorothy P. Marquis

BRADENTON, Fla. – Dorothy P. Marquis, 81, formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully in Florida on June 4, 2022.

She was born in Lewiston on June 27, 1940. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Gagnon) Parent. On June 7, 1958 she married Bertrand P. Marquis and they raised three children and shared 51 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2010.

She worked for several area shoe factories retiring from Falcon Shoe. Dot and Bert were snowbirds. She enjoyed going on cruises, reading, playing computer games, Bingo and dining out. She was known as a quiet person and enjoyed the simple things in life. A few of her guilty pleasures were lobster feasts, whoopie pies and the occasional Blue Moon with an orange. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandsons. She absolutely loved her grand-dog Porter.

She is survived by her son, Bert Marquis and his fiancé, Brenda of Nashua, N.H., her daughter, Diane Maltby and her husband, Miles of Lewiston, her daughter, Connie Bickford and her husband, Don of Bradenton, Fla.; her grandsons Joshua Bickford and his fiancé, Zenefia of Englewood, Fla., Dylan Bickford and his girlfriend, Sydney of Bradenton, Fla.; and Brian Wilkins and his wife, Kaitlyn and their daughter Lillian of Rye, N.H. She is also survived by her brother, Patrick Parent and sisters Therese Dumais, Pauline Turcotte and Doris Cadorette; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her in-laws; and her brothers Normand, Romeo and Robert Parent.

She will be dearly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Dot’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday July 26, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
