David Allen Bennett
ALBANY TOWNSHIP – R.I.P Uncle Scruffy. David Allen Bennett lost his brief battle with cancer on July 19, 2022. He passed peacefully at home with his dedicated and loving wife by his side. Despite his best efforts to hide it, all who loved and were close to him will miss his big heart and caring nature.
David was born at Wright Paterson Airforce Base in Dayton, Ohio, in 1967, moving back to Albany, Maine, in 1972, where he grew up on the family farm. Graduating from Telstar High School in Bethel, Maine, in 1986, David enlisted in the United States Air Force beginning his adult life as a lineman. From there, his life took him on many journeys. Returning to Albany in the early ’90s, David worked construction, paving roads, or building and remodeling homes. Combing the work ethic of a man from generations past, an incredible talent for art, and tremendous pride in his work, the final products of his craft were always incredible to see.
Although always busy working on projects, David also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. After losing his son Marcus in 2014, David immersed himself in his family, appreciating every second he could spend with them.
He is survived by his wife, Calamity “Sue”; children and stepchildren, Ronald, Isabella, Rachel and husband Jeff, Mike, Shelby, Nicholas, Cassandra, and Jacob; grandchildren, Alex, Mathew, Layla, Jack, Maci, Nora, Tyson, and Calavayia; mother, Kathleen; brothers, Douglas and Daniel; niece/nephews, Isabella, Tristan, and Carter.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” held at the family farm in Bryant Pond at 1 p.m., on Saturday,
July 30, 2022. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
Arrangements by Cliff Gray Cremation & Funeral Services, 60 Andrews Road, Bryant Pond.
