Thomas E. Averill

ROXBURY POND – Thomas E. Averill, 55, passed away unexpectedly in Roxbury, on July 26, 2022 doing what he loved.

He was born in Rumford, on March 5, 1967, to Linwood Averill (diseased) and Lane Averill of Rumford.

Tom graduated from Dirigo High School, class of 1985. He went on to pursue a career as a certified welder and millwright. He most recently worked at ND Paper in Rumford, and previously worked at other local mills as a welder by trade. Tom grew up with a passion for racing, hunting, fishing, and football. In his spare time he enjoyed hanging out at the Knotty Moose, tinkering in the garage, and drinking beer with his buddies “Tom 1”, Troy, and Randy. He loved riding four wheelers and snowmobiles, especially when his daughter would tag along. Tom was an amazing father, son, and brother. He was always willing to help out a friend in need.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Victoria Averill and her partner Justin Grignon of Milford; his dog, Jewels; his stepfather and mother, Robert and Lane McDonald of S. Rumford; his brother, Doug and wife Melinda Averill of Andover; his sisters, Debbie Averill of Rumford and Chris Barnett of Weeki Wachi, Fla.; his nephews, Steve Averill of Carthage and Levi Averill of Rumford; his nieces, Katie Averill of Mexico, Sarah Averill of Milo, Deanna Barnett of Manchester, and Kelsey Tibbetts and husband Justin Tibbetts of East Andover.

He was predeceased by his father, Linwood Averill; his paternal grandparents, George Averill and Gertrude Averill; his maternal grandparents, George and Christine Ladd; his brother-in-law Dean Barnett, and his best friend Tom Mowatt Jr.

The graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Andover, on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at Toms house in Roxbury.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St. Rumford.
