The Franco-American Education Foundation has awarded $70,000 in scholarship funds to graduates from Lewiston, Auburn, and surrounding area high schools, according to a news release from the Lewiston-based foundation.
Schools and recipients are as follows.
• Lewiston High School: Leah Landry, Libby Forgues, Katherine Lavallee, Samuel Courtemanche, Caleb Reissfelder, Cadence Nadeau, Lilly Gish, Cecilia Miller, Tyler Levesque and Kiera Potvin.
• St. Dominic Academy: Emma Roy, Noah Cyr and Bella Perryman.
• Edward Little High School: Kora Martel, Caroline Audette, Megan Lachance, Chantal Cyr and Elijah Breton.
• Leavitt Area High School: Molly Sirois, Riley Chiasson and Emma Chiasson.
• Lisbon High School: Amelia Mooney.
• Oak Hill High School: Elise Worth.
• Poland Region High School: Emily Lagueux.
• Home Schooled: Gavin White.
• Deerfield Academy: Sara Robert.
• Baxter Academy: Dominique Richard.
• University of Maine Orono: Alyssa Gagne.
In addition, the foundation has awarded $176,500 to students attending college in their sophomore, junior and senior years.
Initially funded by a gift from Georgianna and Lucien Martin, the Foundation was created by Attorney Robert Couturier to provide scholarship assistance to area high school graduates of Franco-American heritage to help them further their studies at colleges, universities and vocational schools.
