Richard “Dick” Estes

HOMOSASSA, Fla. – Richard “Dick” F. Estes, 84, of Homosassa Fla., passed away on Aug. 20, 2022 while doing what he loved most, vacationing with his wife of 61 years.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1938, to Samuel and Mae Estes of Lewiston. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School (lass of 1956) and a graduate of the University of Maine, where he studied history. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Lamphier) Estes in 1961 and began a career in banking which spanned 42 years and several communities throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Richard was a devoted father to his three sons, participating in their school activities and coaching little league in every town where they lived. He especially loved designing and building floats with Pat and the boys for Pittsfield’s annual Halloween Parades, coaching the travel soccer league in New Gloucester, and fishing with his sons on Sabbath Day Lake.

He retired to Spring Hill, Fla. in 2002, where he made many friends and played golf regularly. In 2013, he and Patricia embarked on a seven-year adventure, moving to a log cabin in Bostic, N.C., atop Biggerstaff Mountain. He planted an apple orchard, cultivated a vineyard and made his own Muscadine wine. Every Tuesday, he and Pat headed to the local country store to hear banjo music with friends. In 2020, Dick and Pat returned to Florida, where

he resumed playing golf and enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling with his wife and being a fun-loving grandparent.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Estes; three sons, R. Shane Estes and fiancé Julie DeFazio of Michigan, Darin and wife Sarah of Cape Elizabeth, and Trevor and wife Marie of Mississippi. He is also survived by several beloved grandchildren Hunter, Bella, Jordan, Delaney, Madison, Sophie, and Katie Estes, Chelsea and husband Joe Tripp; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mackenzie, and Reid Tripp; and several cousins.
