AUBURN – Audrey J. Stevens, 98, of Jay, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Clover Manor in Auburn, with her family at her side. She was born in Livermore Falls, Jan. 20, 1924, a daughter of Perley and Florence (Payne) Corkum.

Audrey attended local schools and graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1942. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at the shipyard in South Portland. On Sept. 9, 1944, she married Paul Stevens, and they shared 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2006.

Audrey enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords (the harder the better) and reading. She also loved to travel and considered herself fortunate to have been able to go on more than 30 cruises and tours on every continent except Antarctica. Although known to be very thrifty, her favorite activity on cruise ships was playing the slot machines.

She is survived by daughter, Paula Richardson and husband, Joseph of Yarmouth, son, Bruce and wife, Louise of Jay; five grandchildren, Mark Richardson and wife Marnie, Scott Richardson, Jason Stevens and wife, Megan, Joline Sage and husband, Adam, Janet Stevens and fiancé, Tom Frazier; 11 great-grandchildren, Ellen, Anastasia, Clare, Maura, Connor and Riley Stevens; Alexa Newcomb, Caden Frazier, Max Richardson; Paisley and Eliott Sage.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul; her brothers Ronald Corkum and Perley Corkum, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jessica Stevens.

The family would like to thank the staff of Clover Manor, especially those in the Donegal and Belfast units, for the compassionate care provided to Audrey.

A private family service will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, followed by interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Livermore Falls. Memories may be shared in her Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com. Funeral services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Jay.
