LEWISTON – Mary Emma Sandstrom, nee Di Mango, 81, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at the d’Youville Pavillion Nursing Home in Lewiston.

She was born in Connecticut on Dec. 19, 1940, the daughter of Rocco Angelio DiMango and Mildred DiMango, nee Dentore.

She married Richard L. Sandstrom on Feb. 1, 1959. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and then in the Army National Guard. He died on Nov. 27, 2015.

Mary lived with her husband in Connecticut for some years, but they moved back to Richard’s hometown of Lewiston in 1984. She was a devoted and loving mother and wife who maintained a lovely home and until the very end, a good sense of humor.

Mary is survived by her beloved son, Richard C. Sandstrom of Lewiston, Maine.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta, at 10 a.m., on Friday.
