Melanie Therrien organizes her paintings Friday in her studio, Wicked Illustrations, in Lewiston in anticipation of World Art Drop Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Tuesday in September. The worldwide scavenger hunt encourages artists — “students and professionals, professionals, painters and cartoonists, sculptors and illustrators, animators, fine artists, photographers, musicians and printmakers” — to drop their works in their communities. Artists should then post photos or hints on social media to guide people seeking art on how to find it. Any artist is welcome to join the fun, using the hashtag #artdropday. Andree Kehn/Sun JournalMelanie Therrien of Wicked Illustrations studio in Lewiston has 104 paintings she plans to “drop” around Lewiston on World Art Drop Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Tuesday in September. She has been stockpiling the paintings since 2019, the last year she participated in World Art Drop Day. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
