
Conrad R. St. Laurent
LEWISTON – Conrad R. St. Laurent, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on his 60th wedding anniversary, Sept. 1, 2022, at the age of 78 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1943, in Lewiston, the son of the late Leo and Yvonne (Grenier) St. Laurent.
On Sept. 1, 1962 he and Doris LaChance were married. They had two beautiful, lovely daughters, Claire and Ann.
As a child, Conrad was always interested in building projects. He started working as a young man for Hebert E. Callahan Construction Company. In 1964 he started his very own construction company with the blessing and encouragement of Mr. Callahan.
In 1972 his brother, Gerard, joined him and together they became St. Laurent Brothers Inc. Around town they became known as “The Brothers”. In 1978, “The Brothers” expanded their business to purchasing, renovating and managing several rental properties in Lewiston.
He was a commercial pilot, instrument rated for land and sea. He was a member of Airplane Owners Pilots Association (A.O.P.A.), The Androscoggin Fish and Game Association, Duck’s Unlimited and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as the North American Hunting Club. At one time he was an active member of the Down East Yacht Club in Boothbay Harbor.
He was the undefeated Maine State Arm Wrestling Champion in the Light Heavy Weight Division from 1976 through 1981. In 1978 he also won the exhibition match in the Light Heavy Weight, Heavy Weight and Super Heavy Weight Division.
Conrad enjoyed traveling the world with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, flying his own plane, and spending time cruising the coast of Maine with his family on his yacht (Scrimshaw). In his later years Conrad wood crafted many beautiful items for his family. He loved his family very much and was very proud of them all.
He is survived by his wife Doris; his beloved daughters Claire St. Laurent and her companion, Mark Aramayo, and Ann St. Laurent-Footer and her husband, Kirk Skinner. In addition he leaves behind his grandson, Christopher Footer and his wife, Megan Hebert-Footer, his granddaughter, Alicia Footer-Potvin and her husband, Jonathan Potvin; his great-grandson, Elliot Jon Potvin; and his grandchildren’s father, Rodney Footer; one niece, Theresa St. Laurent-Rodrigue, two nephews, Daniel St. Laurent and Nathan Francis and his wife, Chrissy.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gerard “Gerry” who died on May 21, 2021. They were each other’s best friend their entire life. He was very saddened after the passing of his only sibling.
