Cecile P. Rodrigue

AUBURN – Cecile P. Rodrigue (Mary Cecile Gratienne Poirier) passed away on Aug. 22, 2022.

Born Oct. 19, 1922, Cecile was the daughter of Oliver and Lena (Boneau) Poirier. Educated in Lewiston she went from store model to millworker to highly successful Bayview Motel owner (30 years in Wells). She married Ernest Rodrigue in 1946 after his WWII service. She retired in 2000, selling her motel.

Cecile attended Holy Family Church in Lewiston, and St. Mary’s Church in Wells. She enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, playing cards, crocheting, making sequined calendars, coloring, word searching, and so many visits from her family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a member of Lady of St. Anns and Daughters of Isabella. She was a colon cancer survivor. She lived over 20 years in her dream home in Lewiston, happy in her adored sun room, until she was almost 99, when she went into two supervised care facilities. Like her family, her nurses adored her bright attitude, lack of demands, and endless gratitude to the end. Purple was her favorite color.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Nelson and Sandra, Richard and Susan, David and Donna, Janet (Mitchell) and Ken; grandchildren are Michael, Jessica, Eric, Darian, Jennifer, Kenny; great-grandchildren are Ryan, Camron, Jacob, Chris, Joshua, Jacob, Avery. She had five sisters and four brothers, with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; all her brothers and sisters; grandchildren Aimee and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Samantha and Kayla.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Fortin Funeral Home, Auburn. Mass service will be held at the funeral home, 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 10, followed by a short service at St. Peters Cemetery, Lewiston.
