The disappointment I felt after receiving our increased Auburn property tax bill was tempered by news of good friends who had the good fortune and skill to shoot rounds of  golf and score below their age, which is quite a feat.

Other good news recently was that Democrats — supported by AARP, on a strict party line vote, without one Senate Republican — passed a bill which may lower drug and insulin prices, which is also quite a feat.

The morale of this letter: Life is expensive, and people should cherish their health and values.
