NORWAY — The Friends of Norway Memorial Library will hold “Give a Day of Reading” a read-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday, October 1. Board members of the Friends of the Norway Memorial Library and interested volunteers will read at the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Readers are allowed a 30-minute lunch and 5-minute walking and stretching breaks each hour. Readers may be inside or outside the library if the weather is suitable.
Participants will collect pledges for each page read, each hour of reading, or as a set sponsorship amount. All proceeds go to the Friends of Norway Memorial Library, whose work supports library programs and services.
The idea that you give a day of reading works in two ways. Volunteers give themselves a day of reading in the comfort of the library setting. They then give the funds collected in pledges to the Friends of the Library to be used to help the library serve the community.
For more information, to collect pledges and be a reader, or to pledge to support a reader, stop by the library or contact Beth Kane, Library Director, (207) 743-5309.
