BUCKFIELD — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home late Monday evening on Turner Street.

Flames were shooting from the 2½-story wood structure when firefighters arrived about 11 p.m. Firefighters had to return to the scene at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after the fire rekindled.

The home was reportedly vacant and being renovated.

Hebron, Norway, Paris, Sumner and Turner fire departments assisted the Buckfield Fire Department.
