Nancy Rae Hutchinson
CARTHAGE – Nancy Rae Hutchinson, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2022 at the Rumford Hospital. She resided in Carthage. Born in Rumford on Oct. 8, 1944, she was a daughter of Frank and Flora Mae (Swan) Hutchinson. She received her associate’s degree to become a licensed practical nurse from the Arthur R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle. She was also a certified archery instructor.
Nancy was a devote Christian who was active in many local churches and Bible camps. She was a member of the Carthage Union Church and served as deaconess and Sunday school teacher for many years. Nancy was an avid outdoorswoman, who photographed and kept detailed notes about each adventure. She hiked many of the local mountains with her beloved German Shepherds. The hours she spent berry picking and canning could not be counted. Those hours were perhaps equal to the time she spent journaling and writing poetry.
Nancy is survived by sons Galan Williamson and his wife, Denise, of Hermon, Howard Williamson of Topsham, Aaron Williamson of Danville, N.H., a daughter, Kelly Williamson of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandchildren Alexis Bugden and her husband, Andrew, of Massachusetts, Lauren Williamson, Levi Williamson, Jasper Coffin-Williamson, Penelope Coffin-Williamson, and Emma Jacklin, all of Maine, Sarah Jacklin of Montana, Galan J. Williamson of Virginia, William Jacklin of New Hampshire, Eva Williamson of Switzerland; great-grandson, Gabriel Bugden of Massachusetts; brothers Frank Hutchinson and his wife, Fay, Richard Hutchinson and his wife, Jeanine, Lee Hutchinson and his wife, Sue, Jan Hutchinson and his wife, Linda, John Hutchinson and his wife, Cindy all of Carthage, David Hutchinson and his wife, Gloria, of Florida, sisters Daveen Houghton and Frances Houghton of Carthage, Laurel Castorina and her husband, Joe and Judith Johnston of Alfred, and Gail Knox of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Penny Hahn; two brothers, Gary and Barry Hutchinson and a sister, Carole Arsenault.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Newman Cemetery in Carthage. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader and Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., in Rumford.
