NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library will host Thomas Tomczyk to present a talk, “10,000 Miles on Foot: A Hiker’s Journey,” on Thursday, October 20, 6:30-8 p.m. Since retiring, Tom has backpacked over 10,000 miles, recently completing the Triple Crown of hiking: the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail, an achievement less than 600 people can claim. He has also trekked in Nepal, Sweden, and Iceland. This talk will provide an overview of the Triple Crown and the benefits and motivation of long-distance hiking. Tom will share photos and videos from the trails, tell stories of his experience, display gear, and answer questions.
Tom and his wife have lived in Norway, Maine for about ten years since retiring from a business career in the Portland area. He loves to share his passion for long-distance hiking through stories, photos, and discussions.
