A Central Maine Power line worker prepares to install a ground wire to a utility pole Monday morning in front of Chase Hall on the Bates College campus in Lewiston. An excavator, right, digging in front of the building where a major renovation is under way, hit the underground power line causing a fire and power outage in the area. The fire was out by the time Lewiston firetrucks arrived. A short section of Campus Avenue was closed for about an hour until the line was grounded and the area was safe for workers and pedestrians.
