Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District invites the public to attend its 2022 annual meeting and luncheon, set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Oxford Rec Center on 223 King St. in Oxford.
The meeting, held after a two-year hiatus, celebrates the accomplishments of the district, its volunteers, and its community partners.
Starting at 12:30 p.m., there will be time for visiting, followed by a lunch of comfort foods, entertainment and awards. All proceeds from this event go towards supporting its programs, including providing environmental education opportunities to families and protecting clean water and healthy soil in Oxford County, according to a news release from Chantelle Hay, education and outreach coordinator.
Scott Vlaun, executive director of CEBE: Center for an Ecology Based Economy, will be the guest speaker for the afternoon. He will give a presentation about food, climate, and agroforestry.
Award presentations will be made in the following categories:
• Oxford County Register of Big Trees;
• Conservation Inspired Contractor of the Year;
• Partnership in Watershed Conservation; and
• Volunteers of the Year.
Following the awards there will be a ticket auction. Guests can purchase tickets for a chance on several items.
