Concetta A. (DeSalle) Hutchinson
THE FORKS PLANTATION / WEST BETHEL – Concetta A. (DeSalle) Hutchinson, 89, passed away Dec. 6, 2022 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan after a period of declining health. She was born May 12, 1933 in Rumford, the daughter of John R. and Concetta M. (Lavorgna) DeSalle.
She graduated from Stephens Memorial High School in Rumford, class of 1951. After marrying in 1965, Connie and Richard soon started a family and lived in Rumford until 1976, when they moved to the Hutchinson Family homestead in West Bethel. Here, Connie began her career as a chef at Gould Academy. Many friends, faculty or student were made during this time and Connie retired after 31 years of dedicated service in June of 2016.
Connie and family spent summer vacations at “camp” at Lake Moxie, in The Forks. The family shared many special memories over the years at Lake Moxie, especially from the years she and the girls operated the local “Sandwich Shoppe” at the corner.
She was a member of St. Anthanasius and St John Catholic Church of Rumford, Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Bethel. Concetta enjoyed refinishing furniture, sewing, knitting, cooking, berry picking, watching old movies, taking evening rides with Hutch looking for moose and deer, and spending time summering at Lake Moxie.
Concetta is survived by daughters Judith Hutchinson of The Forks, Mary Collins and husband Scott of Moscow; and granddaughter, Emily Collins of Moscow.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard P. Hutchinson; grandparents; parents; sister, Marie Zobel and brother, John “Sonny” Ralph DeSalle II.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2023 per Concetta’s wishes.
