Nelson B. Baillargeon

LEWISTON – Nelson B. Baillargeon, of Hebron, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, Dec 14, 2022.

He was born Dec. 30, 1950 in Lewiston to Jerome Baillargeon and Eugenie (Gallant) Baillargeon. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969. He proudly served on the USS Forrestal when he joined the Navy in 1970. Aug. 12, 1972, he married Sandra Morin and they settled in Hebron in 1978. When Nelson left the Navy he worked retail until 1997, then proceeded to work in the Oxford Hills School district until his retirement in 2017.

Nelson’s love of his family was evident to all who knew him. When his wife, Sandra died in June of 1995, he raised his three children on his own. He did find love again with Karen Getchell and they married Nov. 23, 1996. Together they traveled, camped, and enjoyed taking rides in their MG Midget. He loved to be with his family, working on cars, building furniture and gave the best hugs!

He is survived by his wife, Karen of Hebron; brother, Andre of Turner; son, David and his wife Nicky of Turner, daughters Linda of Nashua, N.H. and Tammy of Lewiston, stepchildren Norene and husband Roger of Buxton, Donnie and husband Herman of Lithia Springs, Ga., Daniel of Gorham and Roxanne of Greene; grandchildren Ashlee, Paige, Darcy, Kevin, Nate, Andrew, Amanda, Cassie, Sarah, Natalie, Moriah; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Sandra; brothers Jerry, Lionel and Emery, sister, Bernadette; and nephew, Jim.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Nelson’s life will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 21 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 32 Paris St., Norway. Committal prayers and military honors to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.

Family and friends are invited to visit 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 20 at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
