On December 11th the Rangeley Friends of the Arts gifted us with the annual Walk to Bethlehem and Community Christmas Pageant.
Singing along as you stroll down Main Street from the Rangeley Inn and eventually the warm welcome out of the cold as you enter the Church of the Good Shepherd, it is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Christmas Carols of Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night and other classics are sung with sincerity and we reflect on how lucky we are to be a part of such a generous and supportive community where young and old happily come together.
Thank you to the Rangeley Ringers Ecumenical Bell Choir, Lakeside Dance Academy’s Ballet II Class, Rangeley Community Chorus and Rangeley Lakes Regional School Middle School and High School Chorus for sharing their talents for all of us to enjoy.
The musical program is always a real treat that can be enjoyed by so many people and each year with a slight twist from the previous year.
This year Jacksyn Haley delighted us with her beautiful rendition of The Christmas Song. Then, a sweet duet of Baby It’s Cold Outside with Averie Flewelling and Daxxtyn Williams was followed by a trio of Wetherills who performed Carol of the Huron with their usual flare.
I always look forward to being surprised by who will play the part of Mary, Joseph and the Babe and this year it was Haley, Quinn and Trip Philbrick. A lovely family who had family members in the Three Wise Men, Shepherds and Angels, I’m sure this will be a memory treasured for years to come.
If you’re like me, you start recalling players from years past. Maybe your son was an acolyte or perhaps your niece played an angel. How fortunate to be a part of this tight knit community. Try not to take it for granted. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
