Lorena G. Desjardins
LEWISTON – Lorena G. Desjardins, 95, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2022.
Lorena was born in Rumford on Oct. 12, 1927, the daughter of Leon and Diana (Brodeur) Blouin, and was brought up in Lewiston, where she attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic school. She worked at Bates Fabrics most of her adult life. She married Gilbert J. Desjardins on Oct. 26, 1946. He predeceased her on April 8, 2000.
After her retirement, she joined the D & D Dancers and enjoyed line dance with her friends. They would go to nursing homes to entertain the residents. She was especially close to her grandson, Jerry Cote, who has Down Syndrome, whom she helped raise from birth.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rita Laurinaitis (Bill) and Pauline Lane (Bruce); two grandsons, John Lane (Melissa) and Jerry Cote; and two great-grandchildren, John Michael Lane and Mary Lane; and siblings Lucille Loubier, Adrienne Desrochers, Pauline Boilard and Larry Blouin.
She was predeceased by her husband; and siblings Eva Gilbert, Irene Lavoie, Venice Baril and Raymond Blouin.
A special thank you goes out to a special niece, Carmen Laliberte, and friend, Diane McDougall, who cared for Lorena during her final illness.
A funeral mass honoring Lorena’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
