WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — If you are reading this obituary, you know I’m no longer with you. The sadness you feel is normal, but don’t let it take over your life. It was a six year battle with cancer, and it just wore me out in the end. I had every treatment I could, I held my head high, and fought the best fight possible.
I was born in Lewiston, Maine, on March 24, 1957. My only sibling is Marci, who is married to Michael Ellingwood.
My mom is Janice Meserve, and my dad was Everett Meserve, who is deceased. Please look out for my mom at this difficult time.
The best gift I was ever given was my son, Mykel Callaway. He has always made me proud to call him my son. My greatest regret is missing his wedding that I believe every mother dreams of. His fiancé, Leslie Schmidt, is a perfect match for Mykel, they complement each other in every way.
Places I graduated from are Edward Little High School, University of Maine Farmington, and The University of Maine, Orono. I truly believe the dates are not important.
Except for waitressing jobs through high school and college, my passion was teaching. Thirty-nine years of passion. I taught both Special Ed and Regular Ed in Maine and New Hampshire. I ended my career in the small town of Owls Head, ME. I loved that school and the people in it.
Other passions besides Mykel and teaching: walking, traveling, camping, water, kayaking, family and friends. I was blessed with an amazing family and a multitude of friends. Try to laugh and remember the fun time, not these sad times.
Hug your loved ones, make happy memories with them and keep on smiling! In lieu of flowers, please donate one of the following:
