Donna Mae Hobson

LEWISTON – Donna Mae Hobson died peacefully on March 9, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born in Millinocket, Maine, the daughter of Christopher Clark and Marcella LaGassey Clark, on March 18, 1936. She graduated from Stearns High School and Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor, Maine. She met the love of her life, Richard Hobson, on a blind date. They married in February 1957.

After reading “Death and Dying”, she advocated in the State of Maine for hospice care. She was instrumental in teaching hospice to her students and spoke at numerous meetings on this subject. She retired in 1998, after 30 years of compassionate care for her patients.

She was an accomplished seamstress. She designed and sewed numerous prom dresses, wedding dresses and band uniforms.

She enjoyed spending time on Millinocket Lake with her family and parents; fishing, waterskiing, and camping. She and her family spent winters in Athens, Maine at their camp, snowmobiling.

She was proud of her daughters and their educational and professional accomplishments. She had special relationships with her two grandsons, Philip and Eric Tierney. She became a great-grandmother in April 2020 to Chloe Tierney, the daughter of Philip and Kayla Tierney.

She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years and her son-in-law Michael Duprey, husband of Cary Hobson Duprey. She is survived by her daughter Karen Hobson of Lewiston, Maine, her daughter Cris Hobson Tierney and husband Kevin Tierney of Sarasota, Florida, and her daughter Cary Hobson Duprey of Campton, New Hampshire; her grandsons Eric Tierney of Somerville, Massachusetts, and Philip Tierney, his wife Kayla Tierney and her great-granddaughter, Chloe Tierney from Lisbon Falls, Maine.
