Michael Gerard Roy

AUBURN – Michael Gerard Roy, of Auburn, Maine, passed away Tuesday March 7, 2023, at the age of 78.

Michael was born Oct. 23, 1944, to Gerard Roy and Marybelle Roy (Farrell). He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1963. Working alongside his father and brother Regis at the family grocer, Roy’s Foodland in New Auburn, he gained a head for business.

He was a man with great vision and an entrepreneur at heart who went on to establish several successful businesses including The Big S, Roy’s All Steak Hamburgers and Golf Center, Roys All Steak Hamburgers, Pine Acres Golf Course and at the age of 75, converted the golf course into Pine Acres Disc Golf.

A man who could and did accomplish anything he set his mind too, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed passing down his knowledge and stories to his children, grandchildren, and countless others. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, teasing jokes, fearless nature and a confidence that was unparalleled.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Jeannine; brother Regis, and twin sister Geraldine.

He is survived by son Jeff Roy, (wife Cindy) their children Lauren and Evan; son Jon Roy, (wife Ashley) their children Lilah, Ava, Grace and Wyatt; sisters, Donna and Celeste as well as his loving partner of many years Brenda Ross.

In honor of Mike’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held in the spring.
