A. Theodore “Ted” Barker

LEEDS – A. Theodore “Ted” Barker, 87, a resident of Leeds, passed away at his home Sunday, April 2, 2023.

He was born in Leeds on July 20, 1935, the son of Alphonse T. and Mary (Scribner) Barker. He attended schools in Leeds and Livermore Falls, graduating from Livermore Falls High School class of 1953.

He worked as a Dairy Farmer all his life. On June 15, 1957, he married Charlotte Norton, at the Methodist Church in Livermore Falls. They made their home on his family’s farm and raised their four boys, Gene, James, David, and Douglas. Later, they built a home on Gould Road in Leeds.

Ted was a past member of the Leeds Fire Department. He was a member of the Leeds planning board and was a selectman for Leeds for 33 years. He and Charlotte would make over 40 dozen raised doughnuts for the department’s breakfasts that occurred both in the spring and fall. He was a Mason and Shriner for most of his life.

He is survived by his sons and their wives Gene Barker of Leeds, Jim and Erin Barker of Georgetown, Mass., David and Vickie Barker of Leeds, and Douglas and Melanie Barker of Leeds; grandchildren Beth, Andrew, Cameron, Natalie, Ben, Duncan, Paige, and Aaron; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Charlotte; and a grandson, William Barker.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at the Barker Farm on Barker Road in Leeds. A private committal at the Fairview Cemetery in Leeds will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth.
