Barbara A. (Curry) McKenzie
LEWISTON – Barbara A. (Curry) McKenzie, 80 of Buckfield passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Russell Park Health Care Facility. She was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Eunice (Winsor) Curry. She attended and graduated from the Rhode Island school system and went on to earn her Paralegal certificate.
Barbara worked as a Paralegal for Orestis, Garcia, and Young, and later for Skelton, Taintor and Abbott Law Firms.
She married Edward McKenzie on Jan. 6, 1962, in Greenville, Rhode Island.
Barbara was a loving wife and mother, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Wilfred and Eunice Curry.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 61 years, Edward McKenzie. Her devoted children Linda Gordius and her husband Kevin of Rye, New Hampshire and Susan Cayer and her husband Mark of Minot, Maine; her devoted grandchildren Mark Cayer, Jr., and his wife Katrina, Michael Cayer and his wife Hannah, Audra Gordius, and many great grandchildren. Missing her and her love are also her cousins Grace and Ronald Carmark, siblings-in-law, Thomas and Gail McKenzie and Dan McKenzie; her niece Colleen VanZandt; and her nephew Christopher McKenzie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Russell Park and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care.
The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday April 11, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, South Paris. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Catherine of Sienna in Norway on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. A burial will take place in the spring at the Damon Cemetery in Buckfield.
