Claire Farwell

LONG BEACH, Miss. – Claire Farwell, 94, of Long Beach, Miss., passed away on Jan. 24, 2023

She was born on Feb. 24, 1928, in Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benoit and Emma Bernard; her husband, Edward Sumner Farwell; her five sisters, and one brother and their spouses; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Farwell.

She lived in Rumford where she met the love of her life, Edward Farwell. She and “fast Eddie” were married for 40 years when Eddie was called home to Jesus.

As a snowbird, Claire enjoyed the warm winters in Florida and the mild summers in Maine for the next 30 years with her wonderful partner, Basil Cornish. Her later years caused her to move to Long Beach, Miss. to be with family.

Claire loved the outdoors. A happy day was one spent mowing the lawn and tending to flowers.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach, Miss.

Claire is survived by her sons Russell (Crystal) Farwell, Kenneth (Tracey) Farwell, Douglas Farwell, and Candace (Ronald) Mauffray. She was also blessed and survived by her grandchildren, Kelli (Michael) Parsons, Jennifer Garrity, Robert (Marla) Mauffray, Melissa (David) Ball, Keenan (Laurie) Farwell, Hunter (Kayla) Farwell, Chelsea (Chris) Lavigne, Micha (Michael) Sabovik and Michael (Jennifer) Abbott. Also surviving Claire are her 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Claire enjoyed wonderful health in all but the last few years of her life. She was a blessing to her family. Her Mississippi family, Ron and Candi Mauffray, Bobby and Marla Mauffray, Missy and David Ball, Emma Mauffray, Christian Ball, Ryann Mauffray, Aaron Ball, Allie Ball, and Markham Mauffray were blessed to be able to care for her at the end of her time on earth, She is now dancing in Heaven.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20 at the East Rumford Cemetery (Near Tractor Supply). Arrangements are under the direction of The Meader and Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., in Rumford.
