Sidney M. Abbott Jr.
SUMNER – Sidney M. Abbott Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2023.
He was born July 1, 1935 to Sidney M. Abbott Sr. and Alma Davenport-Abbott. He graduated from West Paris High School in 1955.
He married the love of his life Geraldine B. Watt-Andrews on July 29, 1956. Sid work various jobs harvesting wood, a mechanic. He entered the Military, March 1958 through March 1962. Stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., then sent to Korea for a year. He achieved the rank of E-4, and was recalled on May 1962 through August 1962.
After, he worked at the Wheeler mine in Gilead and Arnolds Machinery, working on heavy equipment. He worked for Gordon’s construction running heavy equipment.
In 1964, he bought a house with garage in West Paris and ran the garage till 1968. He then worked at harvesting wood, also hauled junk cars he crushed, hauled Steam Coal from Massachusetts to a cement plant in Canada in 1982.
He got into construction, specializing in jacking and moving buildings, till the time his health no longer permitted him the ability to do so in his 80s.
He was very active in church, aiding in building two churches. A member of Faith Bible Chapel, from the ground up, serving as an Elder for years.
We would like to thank Schooner Estates for all they did for our Dad while he was there due to Vasculitis dementia.
Predeceased by his wife, Geraldine B. Abbott; brother, Earle F. Abbott; parents Sidney Sr. and Alma Abbott.
He is survived by three children, Dannie Abbott and wife Deana, Vicki Farrar and husband Darin, Clay Abbott and wife Kathy; six grandchildren, Tristan Wood and husband Jordan of Manchester, N.H., Laura Abbott of Phoenix, Ariz., Develan Abbott of West Paris, Cody Abbott and wife Liis of Old Town, Reed Farrar of Chicago, Ill., Jarod Farrar and wife Liliana of Dallas, Texas, Raymond Perry of South Paris, Beth Perry of Brunswick; great-grandsons Cameron and Conner Wood of Manchester, N.H.; sister-in-law, Linda Abbott of Tampa, Fla.; niece, Eren Dooley of Florida
Service May 13, at Faith Bible Chapel, 388 Bryant Rd., Buckfield.
Arrangements by Cliff Gray Cremation and Funeral Services, 60 Andrews Rd., Bryant Pond.
