LEWISTON — Tri-County Mental Health Services, in collaboration with John F. Murphy Home and with consultation and guidance from the Office of Aging & Disabilities, transitioned their Social Learning Center day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to JFM on June 8. After a seamless transition of SLC staff, client programming will resume for participants on June 19.

Tri-County’s SLC day program opened in 1975 and has worked tirelessly to integrate adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities into communities to live, work, volunteer, join clubs and find meaningful social connections and natural supports, according to a news release from Leslie Ogilvie, Grants & Communication manager.

Like Tri-County, JFM is dedicated to offering life-enriching services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and creating a stronger and more inclusive community.

JFM provides community-based programs for individuals to acquire greater independence through increasing competence in personal, social and employment related activities.

“While we are saddened that SLC will no longer be under the umbrella of services TCMHS offers to the community, we’re delighted that the program will be able to thrive and grow as part of the JFM suite of services,” said Catherine Ryder, CEO of TCMHS.

Todd Goodwin, CEO of JFM states, “All of us at JFM are excited to welcome all of the staff and clients who are transitioning with us. We look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Tri-County to ensure a positive transition for all and future success for both of our agencies.”
