Joan A. Damon
WEST PARIS – Joan A. Damon, 85, of West Paris, passed away quietly in her sleep at her home on July 9, 2023. Born on May 7, 1938, in New Portland, she was the eldest daughter of Lyndon and Lena Atwood.
Joan married the love of her life, Henry Damon, Sr., on Dec. 12, 1956. Together, they raised a family of five and also fostered many other children at their home in West Paris, making fond memories she spoke of often.
Joan enjoyed trapping with her grandfather in her early years and later enjoyed time with her family at camp in Eustis on Alder Stream. She enjoyed gardening, tending her houseplants, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved to cook and have big get-togethers, birthdays, holidays, summer cookouts, Wednesday night dinners and of course, the annual Cookie Day. Her sticky buns, yeast rolls and butter cookies will be missed almost as much as Joan herself. In recent years, Joan enjoyed spending time each week playing Scrabble and sharing meals with her dear friend, Kevin Gallagher.
Joan is survived by her children, Sharyll (Edwin) Fellows, Linda Damon (Steve Field), Richard (Tanya) Damon, Henry Damon, Jr., Holly (Milton) Bean, and honorary son, Howard Field; her siblings Janet (Gene) Dyer, Lyndon Atwood, and Jill Low; as well as many precious grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Damon, Sr.; her parents; her brother-in-law, John Low and her sister-in-law, Pam Atwood.
Honoring Joan’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with her family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com
