Emile Bergeron

BUCKFIELD – Emile Bergeron, 85, formerly of 5 Pond Rd., Lewiston, passed away July 10, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Buckfield.

Emile was the oldest son of Gaston and Clarice (Casavant) Bergeron. Siblings Louise Larochelle, Irene Fortier (Paul), and Eugene Bergeron.

He was predeceased by brothers Robert and infant, Raymond.

He worked for the family business, Bergeron’s Dairy, for some time and then served in the U.S. Army. He later worked many years for International Paper Mill and was very proud of a stint for Central Maine Power Company while weathering an extended IP strike.

He earned his Master Maine Guide license. He enjoyed most of the outdoors whether fishing, hunting, scuba diving, ATVing, snowmobiling or keeping impeccable fish conservation records. He was also an award winning woodworker known for exact replications of fish he caught. He was an expert fly tyer. He owned camps at Allen Pond in Greene and Parlin Pond, Jackman. Retirement exercise included cutting and splitting wood, staying cords ahead because, as he always said, “cutting wood warms you twice”.

He and wife, Jeannine, long time members of Holy Family Parish, enjoyed 60 years of togetherness before her passing in 2015. Together, they raised Daniel, Lucy (Packard), Patricia (Washburn) and Rose and enjoyed their many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their extended families. He leaves behind many special friends and memories born of the Maine woods.

Emile had excellent care by the entire Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice Oxford team.
