OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Historical Society invites you to celebrate our 42nd anniversary by joining us for our last program of this year from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, August 12. Our Program on the old fashion art of blacksmithing will be led by Ryan Adams of Bell Hill Forge. During his two-hour in-depth demonstration, Ryan will educate us on the important art of “smithing” used by our early Otisfield settlers. Ryan, a native of Otisfield, attended our local schools and graduated from the University of Maine in Farmington. He began blacksmithing in 1995, under the tutelage of David Osmundsen at Arrowhead Forge in Buffalo WY. Since then, he had taken specialty courses in blade smithing and tool making through the New England School of Metalwork. In addition to doing custom metal work at Bell Hill Forge, Ryan enjoys demonstrating his craft. He is especially good with children and questions are encouraged throughout his demonstration. Ryan (Bell Hill Forge) can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and directly at [email protected].
