Eugene A. Groleau

CANTON – Eugene A. Groleau, 90, of Canton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Andover, Mass., the son of Alfred Groleau Sr. and Susan (Robertson) Groleau. He attended school in Andover and later joined the U.S. Navy and served in Korea. On Dec. 7, 1957, in Dixfield he married Barbara Davenport and they shared 65 years together. In 1956 Eugene went to work at Taylor Buick in Rumford and then in 1963 he went to work as a machinist at Boise Cascade in Rumford, working there for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a proud member of the Oriental Star Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M., Kora Shrine and the Scottish Rites. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Canton, daughters Cheryl McLean her husband Roy of Rumford and Terry Bedard of Canton, three grandchildren: Amie, Eric, and Andrea, six great-grandchildren: Ashley, Ian, Briar, Rylee, Madisyn and Zachary, and a great-great-grandson Wyatt, his sister Rita Carrier of Andover, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Alfred Jr., Edward, Alphonse, William, Raymond and Adrian and a sister Evelyn and a great-grandson Cody P. Jacques. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finley funeralhome.com.

A funeral service with military and Masonic honors will be held Sept. 26, 2023 at 2 p.m. at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls. Interment to follow services at Pine Grove Cemetery, Rt. 108, Canton.

Masonic members will meet at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.
