Moen encouraged her to apply for the job. National Coffee with a Cop Day was designed to allow communities to ask questions and raise concerns. Covacs plans to dress up as a police officer for Halloween this year. The goal of the event is to break down barriers between police officers and the community, and to build trust. Jerry Pepin of Auburn chats Wednesday with Auburn police officer Justin Richardson at Rolly’s Diner in New Auburn as part of a National Coffee with a Cop Day celebration. Pepin and Richardson talked about their large families. Pepin was one of 12 children and had seven of his own. Richardson was one of six children. Pepin, 89, says he comes to Rolly’s Diner often to have breakfast. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
