The Patriots officially placed cornerback Christian Gonzalez on injured reserve Saturday.
Offensive lineman Riley Reiff was activated off of injured reserve to take his place on the 53-man roster.
The Patriots also elevated defensive lineman Jeremiah Pharms Jr. from the practice squad to fill in additional depth at defensive tackle.
Outside linebacker Matthew Judon has not yet been placed on injured reserve after he underwent surgery to repair a torn biceps. The Patriots did not yet activate defensive end Trey Flowers or safety/special teamer Cody Davis off of the PUP list.
Gonzalez is expected to be out for the season with a torn labrum suffered in Week 4.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones (ankle) is questionable to play Sunday. The Patriots also reacquired cornerback J.C. Jackson in a trade with the Chargers this week. Otherwise, the team has cornerbacks Myles Bryant, Shaun Wade and rookie Ameer Speed available Sunday.
Reiff began the season on injured reserve. He was expected to be the team’s starting right tackle when he signed in free agency. It wouldn’t be surprising if he began his Patriots tenure serving as depth at guard and tackle.
COLTS: All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts have agreed on a three-year, $42 million extension that includes $26.5 million guaranteed, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hasn’t announced the deal.
The Colts (2-2) activated Taylor (ankle) from the the physically unable to perform list Saturday and removed the questionable designation from his status for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans (2-2). Taylor returned to practice this week after starting the season on the list and going through an ugly offseason contract dispute.
He missed all of the team’s offseason workouts while rehabbing from ankle surgery and all of training camp.
Taylor rushed for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2021. The 24-year-old was limited to 861 yards and four touchdowns last season because of injuries.
BILLS: Edge-rusher Von Miller is set to play against Jacksonville in what would be his first game since tearing a ligament in his right knee 10 months ago.
The Bills (3-1) activated the NFL’s all-time active sacks leader from the reserve-physically unable to perform list on Saturday, a day after arriving in London for their “home” game against the Jaguars (2-2) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And it comes after Miller on Friday called it a “safe bet” that he would play following three straight days of practicing on a limited bases.
SCHEDULE: The NFL could stage a game in yet another international location as early as 2024, Commissioner Roger Goodell said.
Goodell spoke at a fans’ forum in London, which is hosting three games this season before the international slate switches to Germany for two games in November.
The league recently confirmed that cities in Spain and Brazil are under review as potential hosts in the future.
