Wayne Wallace Gammon
TURNER – Wayne Wallace Gammon, born Oct. 20, 1955, was a devoted father, brother, husband, and friend. He passed away six days after his 68th birthday on Oct. 26, 2023, after complications with his heart.
Wayne spent most of his life in education, gaining his master’s at the University of Farmington, and teaching in many Maine communities such as Bath, Lewiston, and Litchfield. He traveled abroad to Amsterdam, Bahrain, and Shanghai to teach Math and English courses where he also met his second wife Vivian Gammon. They lived in Turner, Maine together for some time and loved to garden.
He outlived his first wife Chong Cha Gammon who died on Nov. 8, 2016. She was the mother of their daughter Erika Gammon, a resident of Brunswick, Maine, and a graduate of Mt. Ararat High School. Wayne was an active booster member and regular supporter of field hockey games, swim meets and lacrosse games, having won the “Parent of the Year” award in 2004.
Wayne is survived by his brother Ted Gammon and his wife Mary, their daughter Liza, and son Richard; his sister Elaine Warner-Stedt and husband Jerry, her daughter Chelsey Landry, and husband Tristan and their son Maxwell; Elaine’s son Forest Gammon and his wife Sara; Wayne’s brother Norman Gammon and wife Brenda and their daughter Amanda Hall her husband Dana and their three sons Jace, Spencer, and Shawn; Norman and Brenda’s son Matthew, wife Elizabeth, and their children Alexander, Leana, and Isabell.
Wayne was predeceased by his brother Larry Gammon. Larry is survived by his daughter Toni Nickerson her husband Garrett and their daughter Chloe. He was predeceased by both his parents, Norma Angie Gammon Carter and Theodore Stanley Gammon, as well as his stepfather Everett Augustus Carter. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, fellow Leavitt Highschool graduate class of 1974, Wade Kibbe – and anyone who knows them both would reference them only as “goons”.
We believe Wayne is in heaven finding a 1967 Mustang to drive and tuning in to every Green Bay Packers game until the end of time. Thanks for all the stubbornness, laughter, and love.
