
Gordon A. Jones
LEWISTON – Gordon A. Jones, 83, a resident of Livermore, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following a medical event.
He was born Sept. 30, 1940, in Livermore Falls, the son of Albert Jones, Sr. and Elva (Smith) Jones. He was a 1960 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 at Fort Campbell, Ky. On March 14, 1970, in Riley, he married Maureen Jones of Jay. Together, they made their home and raised their family in Livermore.
Gordon worked as a machinist for Record Foundry in Livermore Falls, and the Otis Mill in Jay, a millwright at International Paper Company at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, and machinist at Bath Iron Works where he helped in the construction of the U.S.S. Arleigh Burke – Class Destroyer.
Gordon was a member of the International Paper Quarter Century Club and the Maine State Beekeepers Association. He enjoyed beekeeping and organic gardening.
He is survived by his children, Patrick Jones of Longmont, Colo., Timothy Jones and wife Elise (Gourguechon) of Bend, Ore., and Kathryn Jones of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Leo and Fern Jones; and his brothers Albert Jones, Jr. of Livermore Falls, Robert Jones and wife Marcia of Livermore Falls, and George Jones and wife Linda of Jay; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Maureen; and sister-in-law, Flora Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16 at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment with military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls.
